📅 Wednesday 5th November

🧍‍♀️ Who came

•  57 people came to our meeting.
• Victoria Braithwaite welcomed everyone 👋
• Victoria introduced Alina Shaukat, who led the meeting today 💪

💪 Seated Exercise

• 🪑 Alina told us we would do seated exercises with Linda Preston.
• 🎵 Linda showed us fun and easy exercises.
• 😄 Everyone joined in and enjoyed it!
• ❤️ The group loves it when Linda comes!

 

🏠 Shelter

• 👩‍🏫 A team from Shelter came to talk about changes to PIP (Personal Independence Payment).

• 🗣️ Helen Manterfield and Asma Khatun told us about 4 changes planned:

1️⃣ A PIP Review by Sir Stephen Timms – report expected in Autumn 2026 📅
2️⃣ You will need 4 points in at least one Daily Living activity to get an award 💬
3️⃣ The PIP lower age limit will go from 16 to 18 years old 🎂
4️⃣ The Work Capability Assessment will be stopped in 2028/2029 🚫

• 🧾 The review is called The Timms Review.
• 📆 No changes will happen until after Autumn 2026.
• ❓ The group asked some good questions about PIP.

 

🤟 Deaf Village Visit

• 👋 Lauren Harvey and Julie Preston came from the Deaf Village
• 🤩 Lauren taught us some British Sign Language (BSL).
• ✋ We learned how to sign our names using the alphabet sheet she gave us!

🎤 Heroes Got Talent

🎶 Victoria told us about our Got Talent events:

⭐ Auditions:

• 🗓️ Friday 7th November
• 🕚 11.00 am – 3.00 pm

🎄 Finale and Christmas Party:

• 🗓️ Wednesday 3rd December
• 🕙 10.00 am – 2.00 pm
• 🎤 There will also be a professional singer performing!

🕚 Hear Us Heroes meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 11.00 am.
