Care Network at the Palace: The Royal Garden Party 2024

A couple of our colleagues had the honour of attending the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 21st May 2024. 

Sue Veneziale and Michelle Carruthers both represented Care Network at the palace and had a lovely, if rather wet, day out in the capital! Luckily, they had their brollies at the ready.

Royal Garden Parties are intended to recognise individuals and organisations who have had a positive impact on their community. Around 8,000 people were invited to the event - one of the summer highlights of the royal calendar.  

We were thrilled and proud to have had members of our team invited to this special event. We work hard to support our community in BwD, focusing on improving the health, wellbeing, opportunities & independent living for local residents. Occasions such as this are a real treat for our team, highlighting the importance and impact of our efforts across Blackburn with Darwen.

Led by the Prince of Wales, Prince William, making his first appearance at Buckingham Palace this summer, the glamorous royal party also included his cousins Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall - accompanied by her husband, Mike - and Peter Philips. 

Prince William was greeted by a sea of umbrellas when he hosted the event for his father, King Charles, with the weather behaving in true British form. The Prince of Wales quipped that it was, "Good weather for swimming!"

A very enjoyable, memorable day out!

We set off with glorious sunshine from Preston, but unfortunately, on arrival at Euston the weather wasn’t on our side, but we weren’t going to let this spoil the day!

We arrived at Buckingham Palace in plenty of time and had a few photos taken, with umbrellas of course.

Once inside the grounds, everyone seemed to be in good spirits, with the military band playing.

The Royals made their way through the party, meandering and talking to the individuals that had attended and then afternoon tea was served. This was very enjoyable.

All in all, it was a great day that won’t be forgotten, despite the weather. Well worth the journey!
