Late last year Care Network was successful in securing funding for the next three years through the Healthy, Happy and Well portfolio from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. The charity has been specifically tasked with delivering the Coordinated Point of Access (CPA) and information advice and guidance across the borough.

Acting as the Central Point of Access we will be working closely with a range of Voluntary Community and Faith Sector (VCSF) partners ensuring coordinated and streamlined pathways between different services through closer collaboration and partnership working.

Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for people to access the most relevant services in a timely manner. In particular, looking to identify those non-traditional users of services to whom we can relay key preventative health and social care messages.

Through a coordinated marketing campaign with partners, we want to increase the numbers of people accessing Information, Advice and Guidance services for any support needs.

We will commit to inspiring people with healthy lifestyle changes, and providing an intelligent Information, Advice and Guidance service so that more people take up opportunities available to them. We will continue to use the five ways to wellbeing as a basis for our information and signposting provision leading to healthier and happier people with improved overall wellbeing.

The safe trader scheme will continue to be delivered using the charities proven model of delivery, providing a Central Point of Access where residents can contact us for assistance around home maintenance and wellbeing services offered at home. This work is complemented by working hand-in-hand with our Healthy Homes project, commissioned by Blackburn with Darwen Public Health and Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which offers support around improvements to safe and warm home environments.

We will work in partnership with charities, businesses and the local authority, developing a culture of collaboration, not competing with, and instead adopting an ethos of shared responsibility - paramount to working in these current times of reduced resources.

Through this tender we have already made progress by bringing our Hub and Safe Trader service together, so that we can provide a more holistic offer to customers using our services. Our COVID response has also reflected this approach.

Alongside partners we will deliver joint all age awareness-raising events (online and out in the community), galvanising the sector to cascade important messages to communities and help to highlight the many fantastic services available to people across our borough.

All of us at Care Network are delighted that we have been asked to deliver this vital work in the borough. We are committed to continuing to support more people to live healthier and happier lives through this important work.
