Volunteers enjoying themselves at the Willows

Just recently five of our volunteers and members of staff at Care Network got together for a meal at the Willows Public House on the Haslingden Road, Blackburn.  Everyone had a good time and seemed to enjoy their meal.

All the volunteers who attended the meal help out once/twice a week on our escorted shopping service which takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday round about 11.30 until 1.00pm.  People who would not normally be able to go out to do their own shopping because of disability, ill-health or frailty are picked up from their home and taken to Blackburn Asda where our volunteers are on hand to help them to do their shopping.  The customers who use our service are very grateful for the assistance provided by our volunteers as for some of our customers it is the only time they are able to get out.

Care Network are looking to expand its escorted shopping service, but before we do it is vital that we get more volunteers.  If you feel this is something you would like to do and you can spare apprximately one and half hours per week then please contact:-

The meal at the Willows is just one of the social events put on for volunteers as a way of showing our appreciation and saying thank-you for all their help and commitment.  As a volunteer although we cannot pay you for your valuable assistance we will provide you with any necessary training and support and reimburse you for any out of pocket expenses you incur.

Please come and join us and make a big difference to someone’s life.
