Shopping Volunteer Opportunities

The current Escorted Shopping volunteering opportunities are: 

One to One Shopping :-- any weekday travelling to a variety of shops in the volunteer's own transport. This service is mainly to enable people to visit specific shops to buy for example a new pair of shoes.

Escorted/Minibus shopping:--- Tuesday & Thursday weekly to Asda from Blackburn - Alternate Tuesdays to Asda from Darwen. Volunteers would be expected to help people get on to the transport, support them to select goods whilst in store, packing and loading them on to the bus. After a quick cup of coffee it's back home.

Blackburn escorts travelling on the minibus are picked up at Asda at approximately 10.40 a.m. Including escorting in Asda and return minibus journey this trip takes approximately 3.5 hours

Darwen escorts are picked up at Darwen Town Hall at approximately 11.00.a.m. Darwen trip.Including escorting in Asda and return minibus journey this trip takes approximately 3 hours.

Escorts assisting solely in Asda report to site at 11.45.a.m. to await Assisted Shoppers. When shoppers have finished those escorts can return home. Duration of spell is usually two hours including stopping for a cup of tea or coffee.

Once every 4 weeks there is a Market shopping trip for Blackburn shoppers. Blackburn escorts travelling on the minibus picked up at Asda at approximately 10.50a.m. Including escorting in Blackburn Market and return minibus journey this trip takes approximately 3 hours.
